ABOUT THE AWARD

The University of Porto’s Excellence Award in Scientific Research promotes recognition and supports the development of outstanding scientific careers within its academic community, valuing the work of U.Porto’s research ecosystem in knowledge creation, the securing of funding for scientific research activities, and the production of scientific publications.

OBJECTIVE

First awarded in 2018, the Excellence Award in Scientific Research annually recognises U.Porto’s faculty members and researchers who stand out for their exceptional quality and impact in scientific output.

AWARD

Each winner is awarded a monetary prize of €7,500, sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, U.Porto’s banking partner.

U.Porto renews its commitment to recognizing the diversity and excellence of research developed in various domains of knowledge. Since its 8th edition, the researchers from four distinct scientific fields are awarded:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Exact Sciences, Engineering and Technologies
  • Life and Health Sciences
  • Social Sciences
