FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All teaching staff and researchers at the University of Porto and its Participated Entities who are engaged in teaching or research activities and have not previously received this Award, in any scientific field, are eligible to apply.
Applications can be submitted in the following scientific fields: Arts and Humanities; Health and Life Sciences; Exact Sciences, Engineering and Technologies; and Social Sciences. There is a specific application form for each of these fields.
No. In 2025, the Award may be granted to up to four researchers. However, the Jury reserves the right not to award any application, in any scientific field, if it determines that none of the applications meet the required standards of quality and innovation or if the applications fail to comply with the Regulations.
The Award carries a monetary value of €7,500 and is granted annually to the highest-ranked application(s) in each scientific field. Candidates may not apply for more than one field per competition edition. In the event of a tie, the Award will be divided among the highest-ranked applications, in each field.
Applications are assessed based on the following criteria: fundraising for scientific research activities (35%) and production of scientific publications (65%).

Applicants must submit: a specific application form corresponding to their chosen scientific field, duly filled in; a detailed Curriculum Vitae and a declaration of consent for dissemination and publication (included in each field-specific application form).
The results will be announced before 1 March 2025. The Award(s) will be presented during the solemn session to commemorate the University of Porto’s day.
After submitting an application, each applicant will receive a unique, personal code that they must keep. When the results are published, the winner(s) will be identified by name, and the ordered list of applications will be published, where applicants will be identified only by their respective codes.
