ABOUT THE AWARD
The University of Porto’s Excellence Award in Scientific Research aims to acknowledge and promote outstanding scientific activity and careers within the University’s academic community. Organised by the Vice-Rectory for Research and Innovation, this award seeks to highlight and encourage the efforts made within U.Porto’s research ecosystem in generating knowledge, securing funding for scientific research activities, and producing scientific outputs.
OBJECTIVE
First awarded in 2018, the Excellence Award in Scientific Research annually recognises U.Porto’s faculty members and researchers who stand out for their exceptional quality and impact in scientific output.
AWARD
The University of Porto Excellence Award in Scientific Research grants each winner a monetary prize of €7,500, sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, U.Porto’s banking partner.
AWARD REGULATIONS
8th EDITION
The 8th edition of the Excellence Award in Scientific Research introduced a significant novelty: for the first time, the award was given to four distinct researchers from different scientific fields:
- Arts and Humanities
- Exact Sciences, Engineering and Technologies
- Life and Health Sciences
- Social Sciences
U.Porto hence renews its commitment to recognizing the diversity and excellence of research developed in various domains of knowledge.
